The Zubizuri Bridge is a highly distinctive pedestrian bridge spanning the Nervión River in the heart of Bilbao. Built in the 1990s in a modernist style,
featuring a curved walkway that appears offset from the center, it offers a convenient and pleasant way to cross the river on foot. A carpet-like material laid over the glass flooring provides essential traction. There are stairs and a ramp at one end, while a small elevator is located at the other.
From below, the exposed structural elements create the impression of a bare ribcage. It is a wonderful landmark, notably connecting to another of the city’s fine landmarks: the Isozaki Atea towers.
